"This company provides a terrible product.  You pay a premium thinking you are getting the university quality representation, but that's really not the case.  You would do better using one of the generic companies for your announcements.  The printing on these announcements is really not professionally laid out or reviewed as suggested on the website.  The tri-fold is crooked and thus doesn't match up to the ribbon border.  It's simply over-priced for substandard quality.  It's really unfortunate that ANY university would allow this company to be promoted to their students and families.  Buyer beware and choose someplace else."

Brent says

"Here is what you should do, call their number (800) 837-4235. Try to reach a person for ANYTHING. I guarantee, you will never consider buying product, any product, from them. They will place you in a perpetual loop of phone prompts to keep from providing service. This company is garbage from top to bottom. "

Former Employee - Customer Service Representative says

"I worked at Herff Jones full-time for less than a year Cons: Dishonest management, poor training, do not care about your input in the least bit"

Current Employee - Machine Operator says

"I have been working at Herff Jones full-time for more than 10 years Cons: Favoritism, does not value their dedicated employees and years of service does not matter. They rather keep people that know nothing to save money and layoff ones that have the most experience and years"

Former Employee - Sales Associate/Cashier says

"I worked at Herff Jones part-time for more than 3 years Cons: Condescending bosses, negative work environment, racist behavior, sexism, and a plethora of other issues"

Current Employee - Customer Service Representative says

"I have been working at Herff Jones full-time for more than a year Cons: All critical business systems are poorly designed. There’s no accountability for anything. If you are a good employee looking to build a career it’s more hit and miss and chance than hard work and skill here. From what I’ve been able to see there are no metrics or key performance indicators of any kind used to manage any processes or people. So, you can come and go as you please, do work whenever you want to, and when you dramatically exceed expectations nobody will really know because they don’t track it, and their salary increases barely keep up with inflation. So you’re not even rewarded when you do a good job. Unless you call remaining employed for a ungrateful employer being rewarded."

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"I worked at Herff Jones full-time Cons: Pay No job growth Take you for granted Makes excuses to not promote you They use you"

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"I worked at Herff Jones full-time for more than 3 years Cons: I had 4 managers in 4 years; they seemed to never know what they are doing"

Former Employee - MACHINE OPERATOR (Offset Printer) says

"I worked at Herff Jones full-time for more than 3 years Cons: To mamy to list 1. Wages inconsistent 2. Different Machines are now classified as just machine so they can pay BELOW MARKET VALUE!!! 3. The WORKING people are worked harder!!!!"

Account Manager/Customer Service (Former Employee) says

"Negative stars! The worst company I have EVER worked for. I do not recommend, unless you want to be underpaid, under appreciated, and enjoy working in a toxic environment."

Prepress Technician (Current Employee) says

"they have a pretty high turnover and it's pretty evident why once you get in and work. The people you work with are great and friendly but upper management (not the direct management) only care about making as much money as possible. It's a good seasonal gig but your a sucker if you stay longer."

Customer Service Support (Former Employee) says

"There is no communication or teamwork just blame shifting gossip and back stabbing. Points are given even if you have paid time off and benefits are not worth the cost"

Order Processor (Former Employee) says

"All they focus on is production and making your quota. Was told if you do not make your quota you will be fired. Cons: No advancement unless you are related."

Manager (Former Employee) says

"This business is coming to an end. You have aging sales reps, product that is not relevant, and a company that is full of back stabbing and in it for self. I have never been in such a toxic organization where they treat people that have been there for years like nothing. They say they are moving to an enterprise type model but all that has done is eliminate jobs. The team is young and not experienced in leading a turn around. They have text book knowledge and maybe some experience, but only years deeps. IF you want to exist, you have to stay relevant. If you want to keep your people, you have to treat them with respect. It is a shame, there are good people there and at one time it was the place to work."

General Laborer (Former Employee) says

"Job is easy the problem is the managers and everybody incharge including HR. They have their favorite people. If you have an accident they dont care. Just don't work there"

National Motivational Programs Manager (Former Employee) says

"Too much change so quickly by new owners with no concept of how to run the business. Much better run when independent as an ESOP, but Varsity involvement was both misleading and unfortunate."

Samples Coordinator (Former Employee) says

"Since being bought out by Charles Bank, Herff Jones has become a corporate machine that cares nothing for their long-standing employees. Rather than promote from within they bring in outsiders to management positions. In the eleven years I worked there I was passed over for several upper management positions, saw the company go through four plant managers, witnessed 20-40 year employees be "let go" to bring in aforementioned outsiders or having their positions "eliminated" right from underneath them. Not to mention, after eleven years of loyal service and a bad stretch of mishaps I was terminated without any proper corrective action warning. Cons: No upward mobility, let go seemingly on a whim without anywarning"

Accounts Receivable Manager (Former Employee) says

"This company is the absolute worst. They treat their employees in a terrible manner. They don't pay the amount they owe you, they cheat with your PTO and holidays. HR keeps threatening the employees with giving them bad reviews and to make sure they never find a job again if you dare to mention that they didn't pay you or they didn't pay the right amount. The turnover of people working there is high because anyone who is smart will leave asap. Cons: Everything that can be wrong with a company is wrong at Herff Jones"

Lead Data Entry Operator (Former Employee) says

"I was lied to about how much overtime I would have to work. I was also told in my interview that overtime would be optional but the minute they nabbed me and I got stuck at this job, they decided to tell me that overtime is mandatory. I was also lied to by Human Resources about my work schedule. When I was called with a job offer, I was told that my schedule would be Mon-Fri 8am to 5pm. Not the case! On my first day, my manager decided to inform me that my schedule was actually going to be 7am to 4pm. Since I lived 30 minutes away and it was the dead of winter, that wasn't at all the schedule I was looking for. Waking up at 5am every morning Mon-Sat was what I had to do and it stunk big time. Not only was my training terrible, they expected me to be an expert at everything on the 2nd day being on the job. That's just plain insane. I learned that management makes the big bucks and they want you to work your butt off without decent compensation. They treat employees poorly and they don't actually take employee feedback and needs seriously. I can't tell you how many times 3 of the 6 women's restroom stalls had huge messes in them that wouldn't flush. There was nothing enjoyable about this job and I would never ever ever go back. After having worked there, I have absolutely no idea how they're a thriving business. Their practices are questionable and they are experts at screwing people over. They make you feel guilty for being sick and even though I was very sick on a couple of occasions, I came in and spread my germs because I knew I was going to get reprimanded if I took a sick Cons: everything"

Consultant (Former Employee) says

"Great product but no one is buying it. Schools dont have money to buy social studies material. They can get all of this stuff free online with any creativity. Cons: no one is buying"

Supervisor (Former Employee) says

"Worked for Herff Jones for almost two decades and in that time I saw what was once a great company turn into a horrible one right before my eyes. While everyone understands the trials that has been COVID, instead of standing by their employees they decided to layoff a bunch of people which ended up putting stress on everyone else so more people quit. They do not favor innovation or promote people who have an idea of what they are doing. Instead they focus on people who have degree's because they feel that makes for a great employee. Some of the most hard working intelligent people there have only a high school diploma, but they will not promote them because they do not have a degree. Then they promote people who are lazy and push off work to others, but do not give credit where it is due. I'm glad I got out when I did because I still know people who work there and they are not happy. Cons: Almost everything."

Manufacturing Supervisor (Former Employee) says

"The manufacturing superintendent is without a doubt the most miserable, backstabbing, two-faced, worst piece of human garbage, EVER!!! She is ignorant, and cannot talk intelligently about modern management practices because she’s closed minded, and her knowledge is limited by her High School diploma, which she probably received 50 years ago! There’s not a salary large enough that justifies working under this evil monster! NAGY is the closest thing to the devil that I’ve ever witnessed"

Representative (Former Employee) says

"Drama- loving, lying managers run the show. If you have any morals or integrity, you will not fit in and they will make your days awful. The manager will criticize any good attribute you have until you don't believe there's any good left in you. Then criticize you for being negative. Getting out of there was the greatest thing I ever did. The hourly rate was nice, but not worth it."

BILLING SPECIALIST (Former Employee) says

"Company became horrible after being bought out by Bane. Management is scarcely available. The company is ran by temps. They are getting rid of as many permanent people as they possibly can. During the busy season they hire temps for everything. There’s basically no training for most positions. I was paid pretty well but the money wasn’t worth it. In my department we had 9 out of 22 people quit within a one month period. At the rate they are going, they are not gonna last for long."

Software Product Manager (Current Employee) says

"Company discriminates which makes it hard to find the right candidates and having a great culture. The excuses made on why the culture hasn’t improved is pure bull!! We lack the right leadership to take us to the next level!! If you’re looking for employment keep looking. They refuse to change which is why we continue to sink!!"

HR Generalist (Former Employee) says

"Almost non-existent 401k match. Views employees lower than a director as chattel. Very little promotion from within , unless favoritism is involved. Have no concept of good financial stewardship. “What’s in it for me?” culture. No continuity in top management so very little leadership, if any."

Seasonal Photographer (Former Employee) says

"I have worked there for about a month and a half with this company. Management even HR will mess with my pay. Mind you they pay you on a weekly basis, but they won’t pay you on time and they do pay you they will short you on pay. At one point they didn’t pay me for almost three weeks. The job is very easy but they are unprofessional and will speak poorly about others. Beware of toxic environment and cheap people."

Cashier (Former Employee) says

"Worked at Herff Jones when it was an ESOP company. Sold.. Money over Employees. Terminated long time good employees. Toxic environment now. Stay away! Cons: Lost all management that cared about Herff Jones, Sales reps get no support or have to wait long periods of time, Those left at the Indianapolis campus are overworked and under appreciated"

Pre Press Graphic Designer (Current Employee) says

"Classic case of uninformed pretentious management making 80,000 a year while other employees make around 20,000. There is a palettable sense of disrespect from managemnet and expectations to commit to work life imbalance. Expendable is the main feeling I've had while working at this unhealthy corporation. Cons: Disrespect from management, you will feel as though you are a cog and don't matter."

Frustrated Student says

"Honest, it\'s absolutely ridiculous that students are forced to use such a garbage, incompetent, and shitty company. The data breach is such a joke. They force thousands of students to use their inferior products and joke of a service, but cannot be bothered to establish a competent and secure method of paying. Their response is as copy-paste as it gets and they deserve to go under for their gross negligence."
